The Institute of the Black World 21st Century held a June 17, 2011 forum on the impact of the policies of the “War on Drugs” on the African-American community. Speakers included Jesse Jackson and Rep. John Conyers (D-MI). President Nixon used the term “War on Drugs” to promote his drug control initiatives, and subsequent administrations have continued variations of those polices.
