“Introducing a new bill today with Senators Warren, Durbin, and Harris – the Dignity for Incarcerated Women Act, which seeks to reform how we treat incarcerated women. Today, 111,000 women are behind bars, and make up a greater proportion of our prison population than at any point in our country’s history. Since 1980, the female prison population has exploded by a staggering 716 percent. This growing segment of our prison population is often left out of conversations around criminal justice reform but deserves our attention.”
