Fourth Amendment Center Education and Research Associate

The Education and Research Associate will work on cutting edge legal issues that advance the Association’s mission nationally and internationally, focusing on the intersection of surveillance programs and technologies and the Fourth Amendment.

  • Provide administrative support and assistance to NACDL’s Sr. Privacy and National Security Counsel in launching and maintaining the Fourth Amendment Center.
  • Edit and finalize reports, educational pieces and other NACDL documents.
  • Build and maintain ongoing relationships with key legal partners, members and advisory committees.
  • Research emerging surveillance technologies and programs, build and maintain member resources and update relevant webpages with current information.
  • Coordinate logistics for webinars, training calls and in person meetings to facilitate the work of the Fourth Amendment Center.

Qualified candidates will possess an undergraduate degree with an interest in criminal law and policy and will share NACDL’s commitment to its mission. Excellent research skills (traditional and online) as well as superior oral and written communications skills are a must.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will:

  • Be detail-oriented.
  • Have a working understanding of technology and surveillance concerns as they relate to the criminal justice system.
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and sound professional judgment.
  • Be adept at managing competing priorities and respond to rapid-response demands.
  • Be articulate and able to work well with NACDL’s leaders, members, staff, and allies.
  • Have strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Be able to travel domestically on an occasional basis.

This position is located at NACDL’s headquarters in downtown Washington, D.C.

Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience and competitive with similar positions at other not-for-profit associations. Excellent benefits package.
