INTERNSHIP POSITION: DIGITAL CONTENT SPECIALIST

A small Washington, DC-based consultancy is looking for an intern to serve as a Digital Content Specialist. The ideal candidate will be someone with a keen interest in social justice issues, and interested in being in close communication with the organization’s president – a visionary and seasoned woman of color professional with over 35 years of experience as an accomplished justice system reform strategist, advocate and scholar. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Monitor and update justice-oriented website with provided content
  • Maintain social media accounts with data provided from website inputs
  • Manage CRM and listserv subscriptions, updating when necessary
  • Track website analytics and improve SEO to increase online presence
  • Respond to user inquiries sent via email and website contact forms
  • Other digital and web-based duties, upon request

SKILLS NEEDED:

  • Experience inputting information into websites; enhancing/editing existing web content
  • Experience working with a website or blog contact management system
  • Familiarity with WordPress and troubleshooting website management platforms/tools
  • Software skills including MS Office Suite, word processing, databases, PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of Google Docs and Google Sheets
  • Comfortable using, uploading, and scheduling content to social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube
  • Familiarity with designing online forms, Survey Monkey, or other online survey tools
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and competent proofreading
  • Excellent time management and communication skills
  • Discretion and confidentiality

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Degree not required; students/graduate students/formerly incarcerated welcomed, as long has have time flexibility and can demonstrate the skills related to this role. Must have computer/laptop with reliable internet service and access to word-processing and productivity tools like MS Office, OpenOffice, iWorkPages, Keynote and/or PowerPoint. 

COMPENSATION:

This is a part-time, remote 1099 Independent Contractor Internship position with a monthly stipend of $1000. Intern may be located anywhere in the United States, but preference is the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
