U.S. Sentencing Commission Amends Immigration, Compassionate Release, and Animal Fighting Guidelines

On April 15, the United States Sentencing Commission voted unanimously to amend the federal sentencing guidelines, including significant changes pertaining to immigration policy, compassionate release and animal fighting.

Chair Saris made remarks at the public meeting on each of the adopted amendments (full remarks). A preliminary “reader-friendly” version of the adopted amendments is also available online.

UThe Commission is also currently accepting comment on proposed amendments to the Rules of Practice and Procedure through June 1, 2016 (proposed amendments). The email address for public comment is Public_Comment@ussc.gov.
