‘Scottsboro Boys’ sets real-life tale of racism and injustice to music

“The real-life story of the young men follows a harrowing path of injustice and racism that took 82 years to unravel. In 1931, nine black youths, age 12-19, were wrongly accused of raping a white woman in Alabama. The youngest was released in a mistrial, while the rest were tried, convicted and sentenced to death, some more than once and even after their convictions were twice overturned and one of the women recanted.”
