Officer Who Shot & Killed Philando Castile has Been Charged with Second Degree Manslaughter

“Ramsey County, Minnesota attorney John J. Choi announced on Tuesday that Jeronimo Yanez, the officer that shot and killed Philando Castile, will be charged with second-degree manslaughter in his killing.

“Yanez will appear in court on Friday. He has also been charged with two felony counts of dangerous discharge of a firearm.

“32-year-old Castile, who worked at St. Paul Schools, was riding with his girlfriend when they were pulled over. His girlfriend, Diamond “Lavish” Reynolds, live-streamed the aftermath of the incident on Facebook. The incident sparked weeks of protests across the country, and Castile became another black person who died at the hands of police this year, including Alton Sterling, Terrence Crutcher and more. ”
