The DC Commission on Human Rights held its Fifth Annual Commission on Human Rights Awards December 9, at the Kaiser Family Foundation’s Barbara Jordan Center. During the annual celebration, the Commission presented its 2015 Cornelius R. “Neil” Alexander Humanitarian Award to Nkechi Taifa for her service to the Commission and her work to address racial disparities in the criminal justice system. Her acceptance remarks focused on issues involving the criminal justice system.
