Policing in America: Kerner Commission to 21st Century Policing, will occur is scheduled for August 2, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. on the 7th floor of the Newseum. The event will host a screening of “The Blood is at the Doorstep,” a documentary chronicling the fatal police shooting of Dontre Hamilton, which will be followed by a panel discussion with the film’s director, Eric Ljung, and members of the Hamilton family. Additionally, Paul Butler and Angela Davis will reflect upon historical and contemporary policing in America at the program’s open.
