The1994 Crime Bill had a devastatingly widespread and long lasting impact on our communities. The Bill funneled billions of dollars to state and local governments to increase the presence of police in our communities and in our schools, to build new jails and prisons, and to fill those jails and prisons through draconian sentencing laws. Behind these numbers are our people- mothers, brothers and children who have been devastated by the Crime Bill. Join us for a conversation with people who have been directly impacted by the crime bill. During this webinar we will explore the historical through-line from slavery to incarceration, criminalization, and policing. We will create space to envision alternatives and for participants to get involved in the campaign to repeal and replace this harmful legislation.
