- This event has passed.
Every day people are arrested and put into dangerous facilities without the basics to keep them safe or the lifesaving equipment they need, should they get sick. Every day more corrections and ICE staff get the virus and transmit it from the community to those carceral facilities and back again. Literally, we are all in this together.
NNJ is hosting a strategy call on Wednesday April 15, 2020 from 2pm-4pm EDT, to keep the pressure up and to force the attention of the public on to this horror in ways that fit both the conditions imposed by the pandemic and the urgency of the moment.

The purpose of the call is to:
- Check in with you, to understand what you are doing to respond to the pandemic.
- Discuss some of the tools for organizing for change that have been developed by you or others, such as a week of action with car caravan protests, days of calls to specific public officials, social media posting days, etc.
- Identify ways to assist crime survivors and to address the problem of rising domestic violence; and
- Discuss mutual aid and solidarity across areas of work.
Since our last call, we have added a COVID-19 landing page for resources and tools to the NNJ website.
This pandemic — like the recent wildfires and floods — is just a sample of what is coming, including climate change, the rise of authoritarian rule, economic devastation and forced migration. We must extend our organizing and our thinking to all those who are suffering under these terrible circumstances.
