What are the best Multisystem Approaches to Help Keep Children Out of the Justice System?  What policies and procedures seem to be making a difference in decreasing youth detention and incarceration?

This conference—an outreach event for the latest Future of Children journal, “Reducing Justice System Inequality”—will bridge research and practice. On each panel, scholars and practitioners will join together to discuss the best practices and programs as they relate to school policies, police/youth relations, the child welfare system, and the intergenerational effects of incarceration. Topics include but are not limited to cutting off pipelines, decreasing inequalities, increasing diversion strategies, and reforming the juvenile justice system in other ways, with an emphasis on how multiple systems can work together to achieve these goals.

The conference is organized by the Education Research Section (ERS) and co-sponsored with the Future of Children and the Woodrow Wilson School. “Reducing Justice System Inequality” can be downloaded free of charge at https://futureofchildren.princeton.edu/sites/futureofchildren/files/media/vol28issue1.pdf.
