The executive director is the chief executive officer of Safe & Just Michigan. The executive director ensures the development and implementation of SJM goals and strategic plans to advance the organization’s vision and mission. The executive director ensures that SJM is fiscally sound and that its internal and external communications, advocacy, outreach, programs and fund development meet its current and emerging needs. The Executive Director is responsible for motivating and facilitating a high-performance leadership team.
The executive director will be a leader and manager adept at balancing internal management with external impact and visibility. S/he must be an outstanding communicator who is able to effectively convey the mission and activities of SJM to a variety of constituencies with a range of political outlooks, including the broader public. Ideally, s/he will also have a sophisticated understanding of criminal justice reform needs, priorities, initiatives, and strategies at both the national and state level.
