USSC Seeks Public Input on Proposed Amendments, Releases Preliminary FY16 Quarterly Data

Federal Register Notices were published today from the United States Sentencing Commission.

The Commission is accepting comment on proposed amendments to the federal sentencing guidelines, including a proposed amendment related to first offenders and alternatives to incarceration. Written public comment should be received by the Commission not later than February 20, 2017. Written reply comments, which must respond to issues raised in the original comment period, should be received no later than March 10, 2017. More information.

As part of a two-year study, the Commission is also seeking comment on offenses involving MDMA/Ecstasy, synthetic cannabinoids, and synthetic cathinones. Comment should be received no later than March 10, 2017. More information.

Today, the Commission also released its preliminary sentencing data report through the 4th quarter of fiscal year 2016, available here.
