Washington, D.C.: Testimony Needed by July 6 for Ban the Box Public Hearing

Washington, D.C. Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie has introduced a “Ban the Box” bill that aims to prevent discrimination against people with criminal records during the housing application process.  The bill is scheduled for a public hearing on Monday, July 11 at 11 a.m.  CCE plans to testify in favor of the bill, and we encourage you all to testify as well.

The following are the instructions for registering to testify:

“Anyone wishing to testify at the hearing should contact the Committee at (202) 724-7808, or via e-mail at judiciary@dccouncil.us, and provide their name, telephone number, organizational affiliation, and title (if any) by close of business, July 6, 2016. Representatives of organizations will be allowed a maximum of five minutes for oral testimony, and individuals will be allowed a maximum of three minutes. Witnesses should bring twenty, single-sided copies of their written testimony and, if possible, also submit a copy of their testimony electronically to judiciary@dccouncil.us.”
