“President Obama announced his initiative to grant clemency to eligible individuals serving unjust and unduly long sentences in 2014. Since then, however, media reports have noted the initiative has been plagued by bureaucratic inefficiencies, and the Pardon Attorney hired by the Justice Department to oversee the process has resigned in protest.”
The Sentencing Project and a host of organizations and individuals including #cut50, FAMM and Federal Defenders of New York, have sent a letter to President Obama asking to expedite the clemency process.
