The JFAA reauthorizes the forensics and innocence protection grant programs. It also amends a small section of the Prison Rape Elimination Act to address some penalty and reporting issues (supported broadly by all interested stakeholders) and adds a strategic planning requirement into the Byrne JAG program.
This bipartisan bill has been introduced in the House and Senate and should be able to move quickly and easily.
National and local organizations’ letters were sought in March.
