Post Conviction Forum: A Conviction With Options
November 2, 2019 @ 7:00 am - 12:00 pm EDT

One in four people in the U.S. is struggling with the collateral consequences of having a conviction on their record. In most states, expungement will never be a reality for Black people and people of color. Community organizers and activists are now exploring the post-conviction process as a tool to overturn or modify unfair and unjust convictions. Maybe you or someone you know was coerced to take a bad plea deal.

The following topics will be discussed…NOTE: Both Federal (including District of Columbia) and Maryland State case law will be addressed.

  1. Post Conviction
  2. Sentence Modification
  3. Converting Felony to a Misdemeanor
  4. Coram Nobis
  5. Juvenile Lifers motions
  6. Reversing Illegal sentences

If you are a formerly incarcerated individual or if you have a family member that is currently incarcerated your registration will be entered to for a chance to win a cash prize at the event.
