Help the Washington, D.C. Mayor’s Office on Returning Citizen Affairs Get Funding
There has been an ongoing effort this budget season to expand funding for the Washington, D.C. Mayor’s Office on Returning Citizen Affairs (MORCA). We are asking DC Council to fund two full-time case managers and a consultant to help MORCA develop a strategic plan. The need for staff and a plan of action is even more urgent given the Mayor’s proposed Portal of Entry, which would refer even more returning citizens to MORCA.
There are four things you can do to help ensure that MORCA receives the additional funding it needs:

1) Sign this letter to DC Council requesting that they give MORCA additional funding by 5 pm on Tuesday, May 9. You can sign on as an individual or an organization.

2) Join us for a walk-around on Wednesday, May 10 at 9:30 am at the Wilson Building (1350 Pennsylvania Ave NW) as we deliver the sign-on letter to councilmembers and speak with them and their staff about why funding MORCA is so important. Email me at tatro@courtexcellence.org to let me know you’ll be there.

3) Call, email, or tweet at your councilmembers and tell them that you support additional funding for MORCA now!

4) Share the letter with other people who care about re-entry in DC and ask them to join us!
