New York: LGBT Criminal Justice Conversation

Please join the Movement Advancement

Project (MAP) and the Vera Institute of Justice for a morning event focused on why LGBT people are more likely to have negative interactions with the criminal justice system. The event will take place on Thursday, June 23 from 9:00 am-1:00 pm.

Speakers will discuss drivers of disproportionate incarceration for LGBT youth and adults; treatment within the system for LGBT people; reentry challenges; and the intersections of the criminal justice system with immigration enforcement. Confirmed speakers include:

  • Angela Irvine, Impact Justice
  • Mik Kinkead, Sylvia Riveria Law Project
  • Andrea Ritchie, Soros Fellow and co-author Queer Injustice
  • Charles Stephens, Counter Narrative Project
