NACDL’s Free Virtual Conference on State Criminal Justice Reform

 NACDL’s 19th Annual State Criminal Justice Network Conference,  bring together advocates from around the country to hear from experts on a variety of state criminal justice reform issues. This year, the NACDL is taking the opportunity to expand access and participation to the conference by making it a free, live virtual conference!

 

Join us at 1:00 p.m. ET daily starting August 17th through 19th.

This year’s conference will feature panel discussions on a range of topics, including:

  • Combatting misinformation around bail reform;
  • Policing in America, examining issues of transparency and accountability, as well as predictive policing and other analytical techniques used by law enforcement;
  • State sentencing reform efforts, including life imprisonment and other extreme sentences;
  • Probation and parole reform;
  • Data driven policies;
  • Marsy’s Law;
  • Effective messaging around criminal justice reform from communications and media experts.

Some of your colleagues will be participating in the conference as moderators or as panelists:

  • Kyle O’Dowd of NACDL will be moderating a panel on Wednesday, August 19th at 1:00pm ET on combatting life imprisonment and other extreme sentences. He will be joined by Amy Fettig, Executive Director of the Sentencing Project; Crystal Carpenter of the Campaign for the Fair Sentencing of Youth; and Marshan Allen of Fair & Just Prosecution.
  • National Network for Justice (NNJ) Executive Director Angelyn Frazer-Giles will be moderating a panel on “First Steps for State Sentencing Reform,” also on August 19th at 2:30pm ET, along with Greg Newburn of FAMM; Lauren Krisai of Justice Action Network; and David Singleton of the Ohio Justice and Policy Center.

Other session topics range from criminal justice data collection, to bail and policing reform, to a discussion on the victims’ rights constitutional amendment entitled Marsy’s Law.
