Van Jones is one of the country’s prominent voices for justice reform. He has generated a dynamic conversation about American values via his show on CNN, “The Messy Truth” and through The Dream Corps initiatives. Since serving as a White House Special Advisor for Green Jobs he has also been a leading advocate for environmental justice, and has worked to connect under-represented young people to tech sector careers. His inspiring career so far as a media professional, beginning with his outspoken efforts to reduce mass incarceration, earn him the 2017 Justice Traiblazer Award.

About the dinner
The annual Justice Trailblazers Award Dinner honors outstanding leaders in journalism and related professions who have had an important impact on the national dialogue about criminal justice.
All proceeds support core operating costs of the John Jay College Center on Media, Crime and Justice, the nations’ only practice-and-research-oriented think tank supporting high-quality reporting and informed public debate on the complex 21st-century challenges of law enforcement, public security and justice in a globalized urban society.
