How the Collateral Consequences of Incarceration Impacts Young People, Families and Communities
January 25, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm EST
The National Reentry Network for Returning Citizens and The Women Involved in Reentry Efforts (W.I.R.E) are partnering to plan a screening of The Return on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 5:00 PM. The Screening will be at 1100 Alabama Ave. SE at the Saint Elizabeth Auditorium.
After the special screening we will host a panel discussion. The discussion is entitled: How the Collateral Consequences of Incarceration Impacts Young People, Families and Communities.
The film, The Return will begin at 5:30 pm and the panel discussion will follow. The film won the 2016 Tribeca Audience Award for Best Documentary. This film explores the intricacies of the Reentry process through the eyes of those on the front lines—prisoners suddenly freed, families turned upside down, reentry providers helping navigate complex transitions, and attorneys and judges wrestling with the release of hundreds of men and women as a result of reforms in the state of California’s Three Strike Laws.
