Film Screening – The Penalty

In observation of World and Europe Day Against the Death Penalty, the Embassy of Spain, with the support of the EU Delegation, will host an important event on the abolition of the death penalty

On this occasion, we will screen THE PENALTY, a feature documentary film, which goes behind the scenes of capital punishment’s most recent headlines following three people’s experiences with the death penalty. The screening will be preceded by welcome remarks by the Ambassadors of Spain Santiago Cabanas and of the European Union, David O’Sullivan, followed by a panel discussion and a reception.

Panelists include:

  • Allen L. Bohnert, Assistant Federal Public Defender, Southern District of Ohio, one of the main characters in the documentary
  • Robert Brett Dunham, Executive Director, Death Penalty Information Center
  • Bill Richardson, Commissioner, International Commission Against the Death Penalty, and former Governor of New Mexico
  • Cristina Fraile, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Spain will moderate
