Trump’s words in the aftermath of the Charlottesville white supremacist rally and terrorist attack are just the latest – and perhaps most explicit – example of his reckless failure to denounce white supremacy.
Fresh off the terrorist attack at the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, white supremacists are planning even more events – and they are taking Trump’s defense and rationalization of White supremacist activities to heart.
Let’s be clear – there are only two “sides” when talking about White supremacy: right and wrong.
This is why we are asking you to stand with Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal in her bid to officially censure Trump’s actions in the U.S. House of Representatives and to call for the firing of white supremacists from the White House.
SIGN NOW to tell Congress: Censure White Supremacy in the White House.
Petition Text:
Members of Congress,
The hatred and the perpetrators of the Charlottesville white supremacist rally and terrorist attacks must be condemned in the strongest possible terms.
These events are not new – they are the latest manifestation of this country’s original sin, white supremacy. Despite the long, heroic efforts of Black people and other communities of color to redeem our nation’s purpose in true democracy, it’s still here and claiming lives.
For members of Congress, taking action to officially denounce white supremacy is the first thing they do. The country and the world needs to know that you stand firmly on the right side of history. This is why I call on you to denounce and censure Donald Trump’s response to Charlottesville and force him to fire white supremacists from the White House by supporting the censure resolution from members of Congress Pramila Jayapal, Jerrold Nadler and Bonnie Watson Coleman.
Sincerely,
[Your name]
